About the owner
My name is Yola Makana, I’m a mother, an aspiring Trichology expert, a woman whose heartache transformed into a powerful mission, but most importantly, I am the founder of Q Naturals Hair care.
My journey into haircare is one that is personal, born from deep traumatic pain but also resilience. Throughout much of my childhood, I battled a severe scalp condition called folliculitis, a condition that stemmed from my mom’s use of harsh chemical relaxers in an attempt to make my hair easier to manage.
I don’t blame my mother because if she had known better, Iknow she would have done better. The chemicals caused painful, inflamed sores on my scalp, forcing me to constantly shave my head just to manage the condition. The worst part wasn’t the hair loss, not the fact that I was sick, but the cruelty I faced from classmates, constantly being mocked in my appearance with hurtful names, made up cruel songs, and treated like an outsider. The bullying shattered my confidence to a point, for years, I battled feelings of shame and worthlessness.
As a mother today, I swore that no child would ever have to endure that kind of emotional and physical pain; nobody deserves it. That’s the vow that led me to create Q Naturals Haircare, with a special focus on a safe, gentle kids’ range.
